It is almost the weekend! Yay! We’re trying something different and for some Thursdays, we’ll make it all about non-profits based in Tallahassee and the Big Bend region. There are an estimated of 2,500 non-profits registered in the area and unknown as one of the most generous cities in the country. Based on a GoFundMe Report in 2018, our humble city was among top 5 nationwide for most donations given per capita. We’re giving TLH non-profits some love.

Quick Summary

In today’s edition, here are a few highlights:

100+ Women Who Care of Tallahassee: Women Who Care Nominations

Their local chapter, 100WWC TLH, started in the Fall of 2020, now has over 240+ members, and as of August 2023 has awarded over $297,000 in funding to many vital non-profits serving our community. The most recent winner, Shine Tallahassee focused on Prom Night for adults with Special Needs, received $27,900. There’s also a chapter for Men, 100 Men Who Care Tallahassee | Join and Donate

The Concept:

  • Members commit to donate $100 per quarter to the selected non-profit

  • Members nominate local non-profits prior to the meeting

  • Three non-profits are selected prior to the meeting

  • Five-minute presentations are made by the three selected local non-profits

  • Secret ballot votes determine which of the three local non-profits receive the donations that quarter

  • Donations can be made by check or through grapevine.org

The next voting event among WWCTLH members will be on Nov. 2nd.

Ways to Support: Domi 1000

Many have this misconception that Domi has endless amounts of resources or is a Government agency. However, Domi was founded by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs partnering with local organizations and Leon County to support new businesses. One way to support is through the Domi 1000 initiative. Members of Domi 1000 will be added to an honorary group and physically recognized at Domi Station, symbolizing their role as the building blocks of our organization. With support from the community, Domi will only continue to flourish as an effective incubator and coworking space.
