🩵 Skills-Based Hiring: A Practical Workshop Series Is Back | Tal Chamber
Hiring the right talent isn’t easy, and traditional practices often overlook capable candidates. Skills-based hiring changes the focus from credentials to capabilities, expanding the talent pool, reducing bias, and leading to more thoughtful hiring decisions.
The Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the Skills-Based Hiring Workshop Series, starting February 6. This five-session series equips business owners and hiring leaders with practical tools to better attract, retain, and promote talent effectively.
Why does it matter? Some industry sectors are reportedly losing as much as 93% of the talent pool with traditional hiring processes. This workshop presents a different opportunity.
📝 Workshop Details:
Feb. 6 | 9 AM to 10 AM - Orientation
Feb. 13, 20, 27 | 9 AM to 11:30 AM - Session I-III
Mar. 6 | 9 AM to 11:30 AM - Session IV
Sessions are in-person at the Chamber office
Participants should be decision-makers for job postings and hiring practices
Participation is free, made possible by a grant from the Truist Foundation
Limited to two participants per organization | Register

✂️🎀 FSU Opens the Doors to Its College of Business Facility | Tal Dem
The new year comes along with a new experience for FSU’s College of Business community with the grand opening of the school’s five-story home.
Billionaire philanthropist, Dr. Herbert Wertheim, has donated $65M, and the school is now named after him. He’s the founder and president of the world’s largest optical tints manufacturer Brain Power Incorporated. He believes business graduates can help solve the healthcare crisis in the states.
The building is now officially the Herbert Wertheim College of Business and the Wertheim Center for Business Excellence, formerly known as Legacy Hall. It is located at 402 W. Gaines St., across from the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, is the largest facility on FSU’s campus with 218,000 sq. ft. 🏫
Dr. Wertheim’s $65M gift included $15M for construction and $50M for endowed funds supporting faculty development, scholarships, and professional growth.
Fact: Dr. Wertheim, 86, is widely known for his philanthropic giving, with nursing, medical, public health, and engineering schools nationwide bearing his name. FSU’s business school is the first of its kind. He is also ranked No. 389 on the 2025 Forbes 400 list.
