🐾 🏀 💪 Sweet treats, sweeter courage. Three Dog Bakery opened its doors on Mahan Dr., bringing drool-worthy, human-grade goodies for pups. Meanwhile, a 15-year-old bone marrow transplant recipient proved that determination knows no limits, returned to the basketball court, and signed a symbolic agreement with FSU men’s basketball. Also, a unique event, The Longest Table, brought local students for a community-building celebration, setting the stage for stories of resilience and connection in Tallahassee. From tail-wagging treats to triumph over adversity, Tallahassee celebrates resilience, community, and the joy of making a difference.

🐶🦴 Franchise Growth Continues as Three Dog Bakery Opens in Tallahassee for Bark-Worthy Treats. | Three Dog Bakery Tallahassee
Founded in 1989 in Kansas City, Missouri, Three Dog Bakery began by baking wholesome treats for a rescue dog with a sensitive stomach. Today, the company crafts drool-worthy, real-ingredient treats for dogs and operates a network of more than 50 retail bakeries across the U.S. and worldwide, focusing on in-store experiences rather than just packaged products. With their continued expansion, Tallahassee now gets to join the fun, because sweet treats shouldn’t be only for people. You’ll discover all the “people favorites,” crafted specially for pups.
Karin Racadio, a local franchisee and lifelong animal lover with years of pet-sitting experience, says one of the best parts of her new venture is that her yellow Lab, Lily, can come to work with her. Tallahassee’s Three Dog Bakery opened on Oct. 22, and she plans a grand opening early next year with giveaways, activities, and fun for the community. Business has been strong so far, with “lots of positive comments,” she says.
Popular Treat: The decadent dog treats include “Drooly Dream Bars,” made with wheat flour and peanut-flavored cake, topped with peanut frosting, chopped peanuts, and a drizzle of carob. Seasonal treats are also available, and all goodies are made with human-grade, natural ingredients.
"People can actually eat those, but we don't use sugar or salt," Karin said, noting that the treats are made with ingredients like rice and wheat flour, applesauce, yogurt, and pumpkin. "That's what really drew me to this, was such good quality food treats."
Pleased with the response so far, she plans to get more involved in the community by partnering with local rescues and shelters through fundraisers and collaborations.

TOUGH AS TRACE

💪🏻 ‘Tough as Trace:’ FSU Basketball Welcomes 15-Year-Old Fighter on Board. | Tal Dem
Roughly seven months after his second bone marrow transplant in six years, 15-year-old Trace Thompson returned to basketball and signed a two-year contract with Florida State. Like most teens, he enjoys sports, scary movies, and video games—but he was diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) in 2019, and earlier this year with Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) and pre-leukemia. After 5 months in Minneapolis following his second bone marrow transplant, Trace had his first basketball practice, a sport he had to relearn. The next day, he signed a symbolic letter of intent with FSU.
Guard Martin Somerville and head coach Luke Loucks welcomed Trace with a speech and a celebratory video. His signing was supported in part by Team Impact, which pairs children with serious illnesses or disabilities with college teams.
Trace has been unable to attend school and is limited on the court, where he wears a mask to protect his weakened immune system. He has three brain lesions, depends on lifelong steroids for adrenal insufficiency, and experiences other health effects from his illnesses. Being part of the Seminoles program and building relationships with the team and coaches is meaningful to Trace, who is now considered a teammate on Loucks’s 3-1 squad in his first year as head coach.
"When you think there isn't a way, keep trying," Trace said. Whether watching sports or movies, preparing for basketball practice, or on gameday with the Seminoles, he stays positive. Trace refuses to quit and encourages anyone facing challenges to do the same. ✨
YOUTH
THE LONGEST TABLE

🫱🏻🫲🏽 🩷 From Strangers to Friends: High Schoolers Built Bridges at the Longest Table.
Nearly 400 Leon County high schoolers gathered for The Longest Table, a tradition that sparks honest conversations and builds community. Attendance rose by almost 100 students from last year, reflecting a growing need for connection among teens.
This year’s Longest Table was hosted at Lincoln High School in Southeast Tallahassee. Every first Sunday of December, a Leon County high school turns its campus into one long, shared table. Students from public, private, and homeschool settings sit together for guided conversations over a meal. The goal: break down barriers, get new perspectives, build relationships, and give students a space to talk about what matters to them. | WTXL via YT
