⛸️❄️ Olympic Speed Skater with Tallahassee Ties in 2026 XXV Winter Olympics
Italian short track speed skater Arianna Fontana, nicknamed the “Blonde Angel,” and a part-time Tallahasseean—competed in her 6th Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina at age 35. Married to retired Olympian and Tallahassee native Anthony Lobello, Fontana is Italy’s most successful Winter Olympian with the most recent achievement, earning her 12th Olympic medal from 6th Winter Olympics after securing gold in the mixed team relay. 🏅 Fun fact, she won her first medal at 15 in Italy.
Fontana’s success comes from talent, dedication, and rigorous training under Lobello, including weight training, sprints, and a strict diet. Lobello, a Maclay School and FSU graduate, switched from in-line to ice skating to pursue Olympic dreams. The couple’s famous rink-side “golden kiss” went viral in 2022, highlighting their unique personal and professional partnership.
“I love Tallahassee,” Lobello said, recalling how he proposed there over a home-cooked Italian meal—showing that even Olympians cherish hometown roots.
