⚡ Tallahassee Earns Statewide Award for Power Restoration | WFSU
The City of Tallahassee was one of three Florida public power utilities to receive the 2025 Restoring Communities Award from the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA), recognizing excellence in power restoration and mutual aid after severe weather and underscoring the value of cooperation among public power utilities in making a real difference during emergencies.
Tallahassee’s electric utility assisted Marietta, Georgia, during a severe winter storm, sending crews and resources ahead of time to restore power quickly and safely.
"The public power community is close knit because of our collective willingness to heed the call and support one another," said Tony Guillen, General Manager for the City of Tallahassee Electric and Gas Utilities. "We know first-hand the positive impact mutual aid provides, and I'm proud that our team never hesitates to extend that same heart and service."
Fun Fact: The City of Tallahassee Electric Utility is Florida’s fourth-largest municipal utility and ranks 28th among over 2,000 in the U.S. 🤩
