🍕🐾 Pizza and Paws. Floridians are doing a double take at the forecast this weekend–snow?! Trending FL memes: it’s time to stock up on bread, milk, and yes… toilet paper. While we wait to see how the forecast shakes out, Tallahassee is still heating up in other ways. Domino’s just opened its 7th location here in Tally, adding even more hot, fresh bites to the city. Dog lovers, mark your calendars: The Dog Haus, Tallahassee’s first off-leash dog park + bar, is wagging its way to town in 2026. With cheesy slices for humans and tail-wagging fun for pups, the Capital City is about to get tastier–and a whole lot more playful! As the city pauses to honor Dr. King next Monday, we’ll take a brief break and return with our next issue on Tuesday.

🍕 Domino’s Pizza Rolled Out Its 7th Location in the Capital City | Tal Dem
"Tallahassee is an amazing market to be in," said Steve Smith, an owner with franchising group Checkmate Pizza, in an interview with the Tallahassee Democrat. "Wonderful community, wonderful students. It really seems like it is the heart of the growth in Florida."
The pizza restaurant opened on Dec. 24, 2025 in the former RikSha Tacos space at 1955 W. Pensacola St., which closed in 2021. Located next to Dunkin’ Donuts and across from Hungry Howie’s, Smith says he isn’t worried about the competition.
Smith started at Domino’s 30 years ago, taking his first job there at just 14. Over the decades, he’s remained committed to the brand, building his entire career around it.
Checkmate Pizza runs 89 Domino's locations, 12 of which are managed by Smith including the TLH locations at 2320 Apalachee Pkwy; 1519 Capital Cir. NE; 5023 Crawfordville Rd.; 3507 N. Monroe St.; 2915 Kerry Forest Pkwy and 209 N. Magnolia Dr.
Founded in 1960 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Domino’s has grown into the “largest pizza company in the world,” according to its website. With a broad menu and tech-driven tools like the Domino’s Tracker, the brand has carved out a distinct place in the pizza industry.
Fun Fact: Last October, the brand brightened its boxes with reds and blues and launched a new jingle with Grammy-nominated Shaboozey. They also introduced a black-and-gold design for Handmade Pan and Parmesan Stuffed Crust pizzas.

⭐ "A friend recently asked me 'I wish there was a single spot to find all the amazing events and groups Tallahassee has to offer.' CityClips is the daily source for big events and niche stories. Tallahassee has at least four distinct communities: Legislature and Government, Higher Education, Business and Tech, and Families. It also has several sections: Southside, Collegetown, Eastside and Northside. CityClips pulls from all those communities to weave a story of our city.” - Shaun Davis, Business Intelligence Consultant
