The Business of Networking 🤝

Most of the Tallahassee business community will head to the Ritz-Carlton at Amelia Island this weekend for some networking, golf, volleyball, and speaker events. The Greater Tallahassee Chamber will host the 2023 Annual Community Conference. The hotel is booked up, so you can either take a day trip, nearby hotel, or AirBnB. Confirm registration on their web site. Depending on your business model and if you’re new to the community, it’s a great opportunity to network. Speaking of local chambers, the Capital City Chamber is hosting their annual conference on Sept. 19th-20th. Attend this local event and save the date: https://g.co/kgs/EUQ4BA

Key takeaways: Florida Ranks 8th among top 10 states. That’s a drop from the number 1 spot due to cost of living and crime ratings. Notably, Iowa ranked #1 and Alaska in last place at #50. The Midwest and Southeast states claimed top 5 spots vs. Northeast and Western states ranked at the bottom. News-Press

Urban Myth? Armadillos Give Leprosy

Central Florida has seen an increase in reported cases for leprosy.

  • Key Takeaways: Infected Armadillos can carry bacteria causing leprosy, so just don’t touch them. But, people are more likely to catch it from someone who is already infected, by direct contact. Treatment is effective if caught early enough, but hard to detect early symptoms and is slow to manifest and diagnose. | News Journal Online

Tell Me Something Good

If you were to rank the most generous neighborhoods in Tallahassee, you can put Northwest Tallahassee at the top of the list. The community are rallying for 2 different cases in need:

  1. A Diaper Drive was started to help mothers of the Big Bend (WTXL) and

  2. Another NW neighborhood volunteers are helping a Tallahassee man to clean his home to avoid city fines (WTXL).

This just reinforces the truth about our city being considered one of the most generous cities in the U.S according to GoFundMe.
