MEENA’S CLASSIC TOUCH

🪷 Meena’s Classic Touch Spa & Salon: A Legacy of Care | Tallahassee Magazine

  • Tucked away on Thomasville Road, Meena’s Classic Touch Spa & Salon is more than just a beauty spot, it's a sanctuary built on resilience, humility, and care. For over 40 years, founder Meena Karnik has cultivated a business where clients walk in for a manicure and stay for the family, compassion, and conversation.

  • Meena insists her work is about more than just hair and nails. As she puts it, "People don’t just come here for hair or nails. They come here for care, for conversation, for family." She believes that rewarding yourself deserves compassion, a philosophy that has shaped generations of clients.

  • After immigrating from India in the late 1980s, Meena found her calling in cosmetology. When tragedy struck years later, her loyal clients rallied around her, encouraging her to take the leap and open the converted home that has been a haven for 26 years.

  • The salon operates on the principle that "It’s not all about money... It’s about respect." This spirit extends far beyond the chairs, with Meena having organized Christmas parties and gifts for children at a local special needs school for several years.

🤝 Meet CareerSource Capital Region's New CEO

  • After a nationwide search, CareerSource Capital Region has announced a major leadership change, marking a significant "full-circle moment" for the organization. This transition is not just a title change; it's a strategic move to build an even stronger future for the region's workforce.

  • Keantha Belton Moore has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer. Moore is a seasoned leader with over 17 years of experience in workforce development, bringing expertise from state program administration and national consulting at Deloitte.

  • This is a homecoming for Moore, who began her career at CareerSource Capital Region as a Career Specialist and rose to Director of Operational Excellence before moving to statewide and national roles. She officially assumes full leadership on January 1, 2026.

  • Outgoing CEO Jim McShane will officially retire in late December 2025, but is staying through the end of the year to ensure a seamless leadership handover to Moore, whom he praised for her strategic vision and passion for empowering individuals.

  • Under Moore's leadership, CareerSource Capital Region will continue providing no-cost services, including training, job placement, and talent solutions, to job seekers and employers across Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, and Wakulla counties.

⚽️ FSU Legend Joins TLH Reckoning Ownership

  • Tiffany McCarty, one of FSU Women’s Soccer’s most decorated legends and a Hall of Famer, has officially joined the ownership group of TLH Reckoning through their community-focused Wefunder campaign.

  • This investment is a powerful full-circle moment for Tallahassee and reflects a growing trend of female athletes actively becoming architects and owners of the sport they helped define.

  • McCarty is FSU’s all-time career leader in goals (63) and assists (24) across 98 appearances. Her commitment underscores the deep connection between the club and the Seminoles' legacy.

  • Her motivation is to "give back some of the support that was given to me" and contribute to the club's mission, which is rooted in opportunity, community impact, and elevating women’s soccer.

  • McCarty is part of a rising tide of global women athletes (like Naomi Osaka) stepping into ownership to build pre-professional infrastructure and expand opportunities for the next generation.
