From Discovery to Readiness. FSU Discovery Days invites everyone to explore the power of research and innovation on campus – just as September, National Preparedness Month, reminds us that knowledge is the key to getting ready for emergencies. We are not quite out of the woods since technically hurricane season is not over until Nov. 30th.

PREPAREDNESS MONTH

🛠️✅ Prep beyond September – Stay ready year-round.
As National Preparedness Month winds down, the point remains clear: preparedness isn’t just a one-month effort – it’s a year-round commitment. Tallahassee’s electric and utilities crews train constantly and maintain equipment throughout the year to stay ready for hurricanes, outages, and other emergencies. From daily system checks to fast storm response, they work behind the scenes to keep our community powered and protected. 🛡️ | City of TLH LI Post
Tallahassee was also recognized as a ReliabilityOne® Award winner for outstanding electric service reliability – a reflection of the long-term investment in both technology and personnel.
Even as September ends, it’s still the perfect time to:
Review or update your emergency plan
Restock supplies like batteries, water, and non-perishable food
Sign up for emergency alerts through Leon County Emergency Management
Trim trees near your property and secure outdoor items
Now is still a great time to review these and stay informed – because being prepared isn’t about the calendar, it’s about being ready whenever it matters most. 💪🏼

Oceans | Success Story: Newly Hired VP of Finance, Without a Team
In 2023, BIOLYTE, a fast-growing electrolyte beverage company, hired Trey Sinclair as their sole VP of Finance amid $20M+ annual revenue and no internal finance team. Overwhelmed with both daily operations and strategic planning, Trey sought a long-term solution beyond agencies.
After discovering Oceans* through LinkedIn, Trey hired Chathurika Jinadasa, a seasoned financial professional with over a decade of experience. Chathurika quickly exceeded expectations, streamlining financial processes, replacing the need for agency support, and freeing Trey to focus on higher-level strategy – eventually leading to his promotion to COO.
Now fully integrated at BIOLYTE, Chathurika contributes across departments and is valued as a core team member, driving efficiency and cross-functional support.
