🎙️ The New Role of the Leon County Library System | OEV
Economic Vitality Unplugged is the podcast produced by the Office of Economic Vitality (OEV), that explores the people, policies, and projects shaping Tallahassee–Leon County’s economy.
In this ninth episode, host Keith Bowers chats with Pamela Tanner Monroe, Leon County’s Director of Library Services, about how modern libraries support workforce development, entrepreneurship, and economic growth in Tallahassee. Pamela shares how the Leon County Library System transformed through the 2021 Essential Libraries Initiative, turning libraries from traditional book spaces into community hubs for learning, innovation, and career growth.
The library’s free CAT Excavator Simulator program offers self-paced courses and hands-on training in construction and skilled trades for anyone 18+ with a library card and driver’s license. The episode also highlights upgrades at the main library, including flexible study rooms, meeting spaces, hybrid-ready conference rooms, and a soundproof podcast studio.
