Ignite TLH. A mega service station is paving its way into the community, and it’s more than just a typical gas station – it represents a fresh avenue for economic investment. Speaking of investment, seasoned entrepreneurs and professionals are encouraged to lend their expertise and insights to the next generation of local innovators. We highlight 2 entrepreneurial support organizations (ESOs) contributing back and making economic impact. Also, Tallahassee-based Danfoss Turbocor is currently in the lead for Match 10 in Florida Chamber’s Cool Things Invented in Florida. If they win, they advance to “Sweet 16” round. COMING TO TLH
BUC-EE’S

⛽ Buc-ee’s in Tallahassee is more than just another gas station. | 850 Business Magazine
Buc-ee’s is a massive gas station and convenience store chain that is expanding throughout the South, having originated in Texas. They currently hold world records for both the Largest Convenience Store and the Longest Car Wash.
Leon County Commissioner Christian Caban is among the initial supporters of Buc-ee’s, expressing that he is "super excited" about the chance for the mega service station to choose Tallahassee as its site. “A Buc-ee’s brings in people from out of town – thousands of them every day,” he says. Caban believes that the revenue from gas, sales, and property taxes, primarily from nonresidents, represents funds that can be reinvested into the community.
💛 Brand Recognition: Buc-ee’s is known for its clean restrooms, in-house food (such as Texas brisket and Beaver Nuggets), and its record-setting car washes. It has grown beyond Texas, now with 50+ locations.
😮 Project Scope: The proposed location would cover a 73-acre area in northwest Tallahassee. The plans feature a building of 75,000 sq. ft., equipped with 120 fuel stations, 24 EV charging spots, and over 800 parking spaces. While there won't be a drive-thru, there will be full-service food options, merchandise, and other retail offerings.
💕 Community Impact: An estimated 200 jobs, some offering salaries over $100K and comprehensive benefits. It is expected to boost sales and property tax income while drawing economic growth to the region.
Legal and permitting processes are still underway. If everything goes well, the store might open as soon as this fall. Essentially, Buc-ee’s coming to Tallahassee is not merely about adding another gas station – it’s regarded as a significant economic and cultural milestone for the region. 💖
