🧪 Breakthrough Materials Power Next-Gen X-ray Tech at FSU | FSU News
Researchers led by chemistry professor Biwu Ma developed new materials that make X-ray detectors cheaper, safer, and more flexible to produce.
The new materials can directly convert X-rays into electrical signals with strong performance, even at low exposure levels, while staying stable for months.
Another version of the material produces bright and fast light signals, helping create clearer X-ray images for medical scans, security screening, and radiation monitoring. ☢️
Because the materials are flexible, scientists were even able to create fabric-based X-ray detectors, opening possibilities for wearable or portable radiation detection.
FSU is now working to patent and commercialize the technology, which could improve medical imaging, safety systems, and scientific research worldwide. 🌐
