🧐 OBBBA: What You Need to Know for 2026
The One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA)—signed into law on July 4, 2025—introduces major federal tax and business rule changes that will begin affecting tax years starting in 2026. These changes bring both opportunities and planning considerations for business owners.
Most provisions of the OBBBA take effect January 1, though a few are retroactive to 2025. Like some 2025 changes, many 2026 provisions have requirements such as adjusted gross income limits, and some are temporary rather than permanent.
Some of the items in the bill that have an impact on businesses include: | Learn More
restoration of 100% bonus depreciation
restoration of expensing of certain R&D costs
business interest deductions moving back to the EBITDA standard
100% expensing for certain manufacturing structures (temporary)
increased Section 179 limits
1099-K issuance threshold increase
💡 Strategic Tax Planning Tips for 2026
Review capital expenditure timing to take advantage of full expensing and other deductions.
Update payroll, benefits, and reporting systems ahead of new thresholds for tax forms and employee benefits changes.
Consult with your tax advisor early—many provisions take effect in the new year and proactive planning can maximize benefits and avoid surprises.
