HEALTHCARE SUMMIT

The FSU Business of Healthcare Summit gives rise to important conversations about issues facing healthcare. 🩺🛡️ WellConnector President/Cofounder and Ruvos CEO Eddie Gonzalez Loumiet did a fantastic job moderating the panel on data and technology. Topics that had everyone nodding heads:
Ensure that everyone has access to care and quality of care that they need. Better patient and provider experiences, and decreasing burnout by boosting healthcare worker retention.
Better data for better treatment and outcomes, and supporting caregivers and removing keystrokes.
Improve affordability or simplify the system by collaboration, across the healthcare ecosystem, to better serve the people and communities who count on them.

INNOVATION 4 CAUSE
FIGHT HUMAN TRAFFICKING

FSU Innovation Hub hosts a 24-hour design sprint to develop solutions for human trafficking.💡🚀 FSU students from various disciplines gathered at the Innovation Hub for a 24-hour design sprint, an intensive problem-solving session where students work in teams to develop solutions to real-world problems. | FSU News
Focused on human trafficking prevention in recognition of Human Trafficking Awareness month, in partnership with FSU Center for the Advancement of Human Rights
Through teamwork and design thinking, a process taught by the FSU Innovation Hub, students created innovative solutions to answer, “How might we raise awareness of the human trafficking problem, call attention to the victims and place pressure on offenders to reduce the incidents of human trafficking?”
Interested students can further their research through Baldauf’s class “Systems Innovation by Design,” where they can spend the semester mapping out the underlying system that supports human trafficking, identifying areas where they can make a difference and developing initiatives to reduce the incidents of human trafficking.
SOCIAL MEDIA
SAFE+SOUND CAMPAIGN

Florida Hospital Works to Help Kids Hurt by Social Media. 👨👨👧👦📱Research shows a correlation between the Internet, social media, and an increase among children for suicidal thoughts and other health-related concerns. Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (South Miami area) is spreading awareness through their Safe+Sound campaign.
About 72% of teens believe social media has a negative effect on their emotional and mental health, the hospital said, with data showing that teens who spend more than three hours daily on electronic devices have a 34% increase of likely experiencing suicidal ideation or attempts.
Psychology experts recommend that parents look for any red flags with their child, including isolation, changes in sleep and academic achievements, unusual comments their child might make and a change in friends.
The campaign’s purpose is to seek help and raise awareness among families and provide best practices to help with their children’s digital journey.
