H.I.G. Capital acquires Mainline Information Systems | Tallahassee Reports

Mainline Information System is one of Tallahassee’s most successful home-grown businesses. Rick Kearney founded Mainline Information Systems, Inc. in 1989 and has been its CEO since then. The new owner is H.I.G. Capital, which is described as a leading global alternative investment firm with $59 billion of capital under management. H.I.G. announced that Mainline’s current management team, headed by CEO Jeff Dobbelaere, will continue to lead the Company.

Misinformation, disinformation and deepfakes are challenging obstacles in a world of fast-flowing information. In a new study, a team of FAMU-FSU engineering researchers led by Maryam Taeb, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, thinks that decentralized applications (Dapps) may provide a trusted platform to authenticate evidence.

  • Dapps are software programs that run on a blockchain or peer-to-peer network of computers and provide safeguards for verifying information.

  • Potentially impacts the legal industry—particularly concerning the data security and privacy concerns from the use of generative AI technology.

  • Taeb’s team created the algorithm to solve the current challenges of acquiring digital evidence.
