The #FlamingoChallenge, launched in 2020 by First Commerce Credit Union (FCCU) and the TMH Foundation, is a community fundraiser that encourages businesses, organizations, and individuals to demonstrate their support for breast cancer patients.
Participants can adopt a flock of pink yard flamingos to display in front of their homes or businesses, commit to donating or fundraising, and share photos with their flamingos on social media. All proceeds remain local, benefiting patients of the Walker Breast Program at TMH, the only breast program in the region accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers.
“The incredible outpouring of support we’ve seen through the #FlamingoChallenge is a testament to the power of our communities across North Florida and South Georgia,” said First Commerce CEO Cecilia Homison.
FCCU and the TMH Foundation have successfully gathered $116,472, marking the highest total for 2024. They achieved two significant milestones: a record-breaking six-figure total, representing the highest amount raised in the fundraiser's history, and exceeding $500,000 collected since it started five years ago.
