⏫ UF Advances Plans for New Jacksonville Campus. | UF News
The University of Florida Board of Trustees is moving forward with plans to establish a new campus in Jacksonville near the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center, with at least 22 acres of buildable land selected, pending final approval and due diligence.
The campus will offer graduate degree programs by Fall 2026, including specialized programs in AI, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, and Biomedical Sciences, alongside a newly launched Master’s in Architecture. 👨🏾🎓
A world-class research presence will be established, focusing on semiconductor technology through the Florida Semiconductor Institute (FSI), aiming to drive innovation and workforce growth in the state.
Jacksonville leaders, including Mayor Donna Deegan, highlight the campus as a transformative step for downtown development and workforce preparation in a rapidly growing city with increasing demand for top talent.

Piersica Inc., led by Dr. Claudiu Bucur, took home the 1st place prize of $15,000 at TechGrant Pitch Night 2023 for their innovative solid-state lithium-ion batteries. These batteries aim to provide a safer, more efficient power source with twice the energy density of traditional lithium-ion options.
Piersica’s technology was further validated with a $1 million Phase II grant from the National Science Foundation to enhance their solid-state battery research. This is a major step forward in the quest for sustainable energy solutions.
