✨🙌🏻 Tallahassee Stood Out Among Metro Areas with Below-Average Cost of Living in Q3 2024!
Tallahassee made headlines in 2024 as one of the most affordable urban areas in the nation! For Q3 2024, the Tallahassee urban area reported an overall composite Cost of Living Index (COLI) of 92.7%, meaning residents enjoyed a 7.3% lower cost of living compared to the average of 252 participating urban areas. 🏡💵
The Cost of Living Index, released by the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER), highlighted regional cost differences in essential consumer goods and services, including groceries, healthcare, and housing. Tallahassee’s affordability positioned it as a standout for professional and managerial households in the top 20% of income brackets.
With data based on over 90,000 prices collected three times annually across 60 categories, the COLI was a vital resource for comparing living costs nationwide. This information enabled the Office of Economic Vitality (OEV) to showcase Tallahassee-Leon County’s competitive edge and attract new talent and businesses to the area.

For those who relocated, started a business, or simply enjoyed the benefits of an affordable lifestyle, Tallahassee’s below-average cost of living was a key reason why the community thrived in 2024! 📊
