“The Paralympics gives you this opportunity as somebody with a disability to go out and be able to have these amazing opportunities.” - Christie Raleigh Crossley. | WFSU News
Former FSU student Christie Raleigh Crossley made her Paralympics debut by setting a new world record in the opening heats of the 50m Freestyle for the S9 division with a time of 27.28.
Raleigh Crossley won four medals; silver in the 50m Freestyle (S10 Division), silver in the 100m Freestyle (S9 Division), a Paralympic record 1:07.92 for the gold in the 100M Backstroke (S9 Division), and bronze in the Mixed 4x100M Freestyle Relay.
Raleigh Crossley overcame bullying and accusations of cheating by swimming her way to victory to silence her critics, doubters, and haters.

Bradley’s Country Store, first opened in 1927, is currently owned by Janet Bradley Parker, a third generation whose grandparents, L. E. Bradley, founded it.
The store is famous for its Homemade Smoked Sausage, first made by Parker’s great-grandmother, Mary, in 1910 – it’s made with whole hog, salt, black pepper, and sage. In 2023, around 35,000 sausages were sold with roughly 180,000 pounds.
In April 1984, the store was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The store will also celebrate its centennial in 2027.
Bradley’s Country Store participates in events such as Old Fashioned Fun Day (held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving) and Tallahassee Fun Fair.
