The synthesis of Taxol at Florida State University by Professor Holton revolutionized cancer treatment and saved millions of lives worldwide. 🌍 | AUTM (2006)

  • After receiving FDA approval in 1993 Taxol, a vital cancer drug, has made significant positive impact on cancer treatment, particularly for ovarian and breast cancer. Professor Robert Holton of Florida State University invented a process to synthesize Taxol, saving the endangered Pacific Yew tree from extinction.

  • Taxol has been instrumental in the treatment of various cancers and is considered a milestone in cancer therapy. The invention of Taxol led to the formation of Taxolog Inc. to develop other Taxol analogs. 💊

  • Stories like Karen Curtin's highlight the life-saving benefits of Taxol and how it has transformed cancer treatment. As of 2006, she is one of 2 million women who received the treatment. Taxol's introduction marked a major step forward in the fight against cancer and continues to be a front-line therapy for various cancers.

NFIL | Commercial Space

"When you want people to graduate from your space into their own commercial space, that's something we could focus on when it comes to our economic development of making sure that we develop and give a pipeline for folks to graduate from their start-up space in your lab to a commercial space to stay here locally. I appreciate you planning and knowing what we need to do all the way from the beginning to the end. Not just filling your building, but filling our community."
