eMERGE AMERICAS

AI, climatetech and healthtech reign supreme on eMerge Americas’ 10th anniversary. 🎉 An estimated 20,000 tech enthusiasts descended upon the Miami Beach Conference Center to learn about the latest and greatest in innovation – all with a Miami twist. | Refresh Miami
AI, climatetech, and healthtech were the major themes in the 110 startups with a presence in the conference’s so-called Startup Alley – all of whom are vying to make their pitch on the main stage and win an investment round from eMerge and its partners.
The federal government has designated South Florida as one of 31 Tech Hubs – the only with focus on climate. The initiative aims to create 23,000 jobs, foster 500 startups, and upskill 3,000 workers. South Florida is currently in the process of applying for the second stage of this program, which would bring $70 million to the region.
According to Manny Medina’s daughter, eMerge CEO Melissa Medina, the organization’s impact over the last 10 years has been tangible: “We have helped generate over 10,000 jobs in our state, 81% of which are high wage jobs. And we have had over $2.6 billion in impact across our state.”

How AI May Reshape Health Care in South Florida. 🤖 🩺 The technology is beginning to impact how patients receive care, from the use of virtual reality to deploying facial recognition for check-in. These were among the use cases on view at the recent eMerge Americas conference. | GovTech
AI is fueling healthcare innovation in South Florida. Signing in at the doctor’s office with a scan of your face. Using virtual reality to make patients feel like they’re at the beach instead of in a hospital room during procedures to help reduce anxiety.
Dozens of healthcare and tech experts gathered in Miami Beach recently for the 10th annual eMerge Americas conference to showcase “healthtech” innovations that are expected to improve and personalize patient care. AI also is being used to reduce the workload on physicians and staff, and help researchers and hospital systems analyze data quickly.
Patient facial recognition, Using virtual reality to help reduce patient anxiety, Targeting Alzheimer's, AI to teach, and ‘Pushing the Limits of Healthcare’ on the race track are some of the healthtech innovations in South Florida.
