OASIS’ NEW HOME

The Oasis Center for Women and Girls has moved from its home on Call Street after 17 years. | WFSU

  • Kelly Otte, the founder and executive director, says Oasis will continue to offer after-hours counseling for women, including free childcare, and support groups for moms, not only in-house but at the Leon County Detention Center and the Kearney Center emergency shelter.

  • The Oasis “Girls Can Do Anything” summer camp starts at the end of May for 8 weeks. Its purpose is to show 22 girls a week anything that would make them think ‘I can do this.’

Stephanie Shumate is the Executive Director of the Tallahassee-Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. | CSWG

  • Stephanie brings almost two decades of community engagement, advocacy initiatives, production management, innovative communication strategies, leadership training, personal development, and group facilitation to the CSWG.

  • She was formerly Vice President of Client Relations at CATECOMM, a Tallahassee-based Public Relations and Communications firm.

  • A graduate of Florida State University with a B.A. in Sociology, a minor in Elementary Education, and holds a Certificate in Leadership Studies and Theories.

  • She was featured in the current issue of Tallahassee Woman Magazine | Oasis Center for Women & Girls FB Post
