OASIS’ NEW HOME

The Oasis Center for Women and Girls has moved from its home on Call Street after 17 years. | WFSU
Kelly Otte, the founder and executive director, says Oasis will continue to offer after-hours counseling for women, including free childcare, and support groups for moms, not only in-house but at the Leon County Detention Center and the Kearney Center emergency shelter.
The Oasis “Girls Can Do Anything” summer camp starts at the end of May for 8 weeks. Its purpose is to show 22 girls a week anything that would make them think ‘I can do this.’

Stephanie Shumate is the Executive Director of the Tallahassee-Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. | CSWG
Stephanie brings almost two decades of community engagement, advocacy initiatives, production management, innovative communication strategies, leadership training, personal development, and group facilitation to the CSWG.
She was formerly Vice President of Client Relations at CATECOMM, a Tallahassee-based Public Relations and Communications firm.
A graduate of Florida State University with a B.A. in Sociology, a minor in Elementary Education, and holds a Certificate in Leadership Studies and Theories.
She was featured in the current issue of Tallahassee Woman Magazine | Oasis Center for Women & Girls FB Post
