Originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, Anita moved to the U.S. in 2005 and has been a resident of Tallahassee since 2011.

She is a graduate of FSU with a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs and a Master of Public Administration with a specialization in Financial Management and Accountancy. She also holds an Advanced International Certificate of Education Diploma from the University of Cambridge and has been awarded with the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award.

She sits on several nonprofit boards related to children’s issues, community enrichment, emerging technology, and retaining young professional talent. She is also a member of the Leadership Tallahassee Class 40.

Dr. Amm, who currently serves as Director of the Magnet Division at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), will begin her tenure as lab director on May 6th.

The National MagLab hosts researchers from hundreds of universities, labs, and businesses from around the globe who use unique high-field magnets and instrumentation to answer pressing questions in health, energy, materials, quantum science, and more.

Dr. Amm will oversee more than 500 scientists/employees and more than 2,000 visitors from across the United States and dozens of countries each year.
